Howard T. Odum was a famous ecologist who received the Crafoord Prize for his work in modeling ecosystems. The Crafoord is considered the Nobel for ecology (and periodically geology) and is awarded by the same groups that decide on the Nobel’s. Howard was the 30th President of the ISSS (just after the subject of this website, the 29th) and was very interested in advancing general systems theory. In fact, when he wrote the second edition of his famous textbook he re-named it Ecological and General Systems. Here is the suggestion of several Odum-inspired projects between SPT and using his energy simulation software for advancing various aspects of SPT.
